Trump puts tariffs on the UK and Australia
Trump has applied tariffs on both the UK and Australia which has caused some surprise and irritation. It’s particularly odd because both the UK and Australia buy more goods from the US than the US buys from them.
This is in contrast to the EU and Canada who sell much more to the US than they buy and is behind Trump’s claim the US is taken advantage of.

The moderate imam taking on Labour – and the extremists | The Daily T Podcast
Angela Rayner is planning to set up a council on Islamophobia, tasked with drawing up an official government definition for anti-Muslim discrimination. But some senior political figures are worried that the Government could adopt the same definition as the Labour Party, which has been described as so widely drawn it curbs free speech. One of the people sounding the alarm is Dr Taj Hargey, a moderate Imam and scholar who is “deeply concerned” about the definition. He tells Kamal and Camilla it will close down open discussion of Islam and give extremists “a get out of jail free card”. Dr Hargey also explains why he says Islam has been “captured” by extremism and what liberal Muslim leaders can do about it. A senior Muslim Labour politician has warned Angela Rayner against adopting the party’s definition of Islamophobia “if it really wants to tackle discrimination”. Khalid Mahmood, who served as MP for Perry Barr in Birmingham for more than 20 years, said he was concerned that the Deputy Prime Minister’s new council on Islamophobia would rubber-stamp a definition previously adopted by the party. It follows Monday’s disclosure by The Telegraph that Ms Rayner had plans to create such a body and is lining up Dominic Grieve, a former Tory attorney general, to lead it.

Albanian criminal avoids deportation because his son “doesn’t like foreign chicken nuggets”
Britain’s immigration system has reached peak farce – a criminal just dodged deportation because his son supposedly can’t stomach Albanian chicken nuggets. This isn’t a parody – it’s the judiciary ruling that foreign nuggets violate human rights. Klevis Disha, an Albanian gangster, entered the UK illegally, became a citizen, hoarded £300,000 in dirty cash, and got jailed – yet he’s still here, shielded by a system softer than a sesame seeded bun. It doesn’t stop with nuggets. A Pakistani overstayer was awarded £100,000 for being “treated like a criminal” – even though overstaying a visa is a criminal offence. Four Indians pretending to be Afghan refugees now live in a £320,000 taxpayer-funded home, their trial delayed by a lack of interpreters. And a Jamaican drug dealer dodged deportation because his transgender child allegedly depends on him for emotional support – because obviously, a career crack peddler is the ideal confidant. This asylum system doesn’t protect Britain; it rewards liars, cheats, and criminals. Judges nod along to these sob stories like gullible greenhorns, believing every word. And with every dumb ruling, public trust in our judiciary and asylum system erodes even further. Until we ditch the European Convention on Human Rights and grow a spine, Britain’s borders will remain a playground for scammers.
